Glycerol is a side product of the biodiesel reaction and is being produced in ever-greater amounts. The Unit Operations Lab at WPI produces glycerol and biodiesel. While the biodiesel is used in other experiments, the glycerol is not, and is not kept. This report aims to investigate ways to use and purify this glycerol, including in soap, acid neutralization, and electrodialysis.
