Abstract

Heart Failure is difficult to diagnose due to the varying symptoms. In an ongoing clinical study, UMass Memorial Medical Center is attempting to establish a treatment plan while in the emergency room to increase patient improvement and decrease length of stay. Based on specific inclusion criteria, over six months we were able to enroll 41 patients in the study. Analysis of data for medications showed that statistically medication did not play a role in patient improvement or length of stay, likely due to large variability of the data and a small sample size.
