"Coming Down" is a scene from Albert Smith's descent of Mont Blanc after climbing the peak in 1851. Versions of this scene appear in many of his works about the ascent, from his book The Story of Mont Blanc (1853) to playbills for his show. This image is one of the lantern slides sold at the Egyptian Hall in 1855.
